Anjuna

Anjuna is another of Goa’s famous beaches on the shore of Arabian Sea. Its exotic facade of black rocks and palm trees is dotted with Portuguese style houses, monuments and churches, charmingly contrasting with its whitewashed sandy beach.

Since it is more remote than Candolim, Calangute, and Baga, Anjuna is not on the traditional tourist trail and must be sought out. It was this that made it one of Goa’s earliest hippie haunts. Today, this only continues to add to its popularity, and it remains a favourite destination for young people and party lovers seeking out the unexplored Goa. Like Goa’s other beaches, a line of shacks dots its skyline. Since it is more remote than Goa’s other popular beaches, it still draws crowds from around the world, but it has a unique sprinkling of solitude in its teeming chaotic vibrance. You can shop at its market that sells everything from handicrafts to jewellery, snack at its restaurants and bars, hire a scooter or a bike and go exploring, or visit its revered shrines like the St. Anthony’s Chapel. Watch out for its Wednesday markets, which usually have a big draw.
