Chashme Shahi or Chashma I Shahi, also known as Chashma Shahi, is one of the Mughal gardens constructed in 1632 AD round a spring via Ali Mardan Khan, a governor of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan as according to the orders of the Emperor, as a present for his elder son Prince Dara Shikoh. The lawn is located inside the Zabarwan Range, close to Raj Bhawan overlooking Dal Lake in Srinagar, Kashmir, India. Chashme Shahi at the start derives its name from the spring which become located by using the excellent girl saint of Kashmir, Rupa Bhawani, who became from the Sahib clan of Kashmiri Pandits.
The own family call of Rupa Bhawani was 'Sahib' and the spring was firstly known as 'Chashme Sahibi'. Over the years the name got corrupted and these days the location is known as Chashme Shahi. The garden was constructed across the spring by the Mughal Governor Ali Mardan Khan in 1632. It turned into commissioned by means of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his eldest son, Dara Sikoh.
