About Kozhenchery

Kozhencherry is a census town in Pathankotitta district of Kerala state, South India, in the Central Travancore Region South Central Kerala. According to the 2011 census, 3,393 households had a population of 12,021. This is one of the main cities of Pathhenthitta district. It is on the banks of the river Pampa. It is a commercial center and many banks and business companies have their establishments here. It is believed that once the Cawls of Thekonor Empire ruled this area.

Kozhencherry used to be a part of the former Travancore empire. However, Kozhencherry itself is not a municipal city which is the headquarters of the Pathanmthitta district and the municipality is in Kozhencherry Taluk. Other talukas in the Pathanmthitta district are Tiruvalla, Mallappali, Ranni, Adoor and Konni. The main attraction of Kozenchery is the Maramon Conference, which is the second largest religious conference in Asia. The Maramon Convention has more than 120 years of history and tradition. The main attraction of Kozhencheri is the Kozenchery Bridge, which was built by the British 100 years ago.
