The word Karinilam means black paddy fields, this was due to a legend. When we go according to legend the story that follows is- In place of this paddy field resided a great forest which was burnt to ashes and was mixed with soil for the purpose of cultivating rice.

Popularly known as the ‘Rice Bowl Of Kerala’, these vibrant fields join the beautiful and enchanting backwaters of Kerala which is located well inside its vicinity. The reason why paddy fields are grown here is due to the fact that 4 major river flows through this river and as we know paddy requires a lot of water for its growth. The scenic and mesmerizing views of the paddy fields is quite to stalk.
