About Theatre Olympiad

This is an International event which provides a wonderful platform say a small world stage for countries of the world to strengthen ties with the people of India. Forging bonds through the performing arts, theatre is a wonderful tool to help youngsters to develop self confidence, self esteem and global understanding of one another. It is also a great way to promote peace, understanding and empathy in an intolerant world where terrorism and extremism has prevailed with intolerance to people and nations by forwarding national integrity, international amity and universal brotherhood through cross cultural assimilation.

Theatre Olympiad welcomes performing arts companies, groups and artists to present their productions in all kinds of performing arts including Theatre drama, comedy, mime, pantomime, puppet, fingers theatre, visual, Dance western, modern, folk, classical etc., Music opera, classical, musical, contemporary, jazz, folk etc. and other forms of performing arts.

Organizers have published documents of the Festival including the Invitation Letter and Application Form including General Rules and Registration procedures.

A 12-days long biggest cultural extravaganza of the 24th National Drama, Dance & Music Competition, with a participation of more than 3000 Indian performing artists, will also be held along with this International Event.

The mega theatre event “India Theatre Olympiad” is scheduled to be held from 9th of September. The Olympiad would begin with all India multilingual drama from September 20 and would be followed by classical and folk dances, vocal and instrumental music competitions till the 30th of this month.

The International Theatre Festival, which is an integral part of this Olympiad would be held from October 1 to 5 as informed by  the general secretary of the Olympiad Prof Kartik Chandra Rath, who has been single-handedly organizing such a mega event.

As per Prof. Rath, the Theatre Olympiad in Cuttack which is unique of its kind across the world, is being organized in the Millennium city for the last 20 years without a break The theatre festival is being organized to promote creative theatrical expression and artistic acumen of theatre-loving people. The festival also envisages to promote international amity and universal brotherhood through cross-cultural and social assimilation. It would be amazing to see performances of nearly 150 different cultural groups having over 3,500 performing artistes. The festival would also witness the presence of a galaxy of playwrights, directors and critics from the country and abroad, who would be sharing their experiences and artistic calibre here with all.
